Who am I?
This is me…
I am a young and motivated photographer and graphic designer based in Brisbane, Australia. I am currently in my 2nd year at Queensland University of Technology studying a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Majoring in Communication Design).
This is what I like…
Over the last 3 years as a designer I have been exploring different areas, interests and communities to get a better feel for my position within this ever changing and growing industry. At a technical level I love photography and designing for print although I am finding more and more interest in information design.
On a more emotive level I am particularly keen of telling stories and making the little seen details know. I am very interested in giving my audiences a greater appreciation for things they may take advantage of, whether it be the impact they have on others or how they rely on those around them. I am highly interested in projects that expose life’s little intricacies.
For me being a designer is a chance to give viewers a different perspective on the everyday parts of their life that is often overlooked. It is more then just a pretty picture, every project has something to be communicated.
This is what I can do…
Currently I have a wide array of skills at base levels which I will continue to develop through out my career. These skills include the use of the following programs:
- Adobe Creative Suite on both a mac and PC
- Illustrator
- InDesign
- Flash
- Photoshop
- Acrobat
- Office software solutions
- Microsoft Office
- Open Office
- Final Cut Pro
I am also adept at photography having been interested in it as a hobby for many years and always taking photos, I have taken at least one photo everyday since January 2008.
While a knowledge of working in these software environments and the technical skills I possess are important the real key using them to realise design solutions suitable to your projects. Being a designer is more then just software knowledge, it takes more to be able to discover the best ways to send your message more effectively. And my passion for showing the little things will ad to meaning for your audience to gain a greater insight.
This is what I would love to learn…
In future I would really like to gain a more indepth understanding of the skills I currently have as listed above to extend myself as a designer able to accomplish most tasks thrown my way. However; knowing that I can’t do everything and never will be able to I would love to push my focus into photography in particular travel photography. I have always loved seeing things that are new and different and especially love sharing such moments with other, if I could spend my life doing just that it would be a dream come true.
This blogs design…
The design of this blog is one that is minimal and simple to appeal to possible clientelle from a wide variety of backgrounds, by keeping the design simple the accessibility to the site remains high and there is a greater chance of interest from non designer parties.
